Tasting Notes of Apricot and Oolong Tea
Apricot sweetness and delicate oolong tea aromatics lead the way in this returning favourite from Andre Hakizimana and Anathal Mukagwiza. We’ve been sourcing this microlot year after year since 2019, drawn back by the same clarity and balance that make it such a reliable standout. Grown on the couple’s 1.2-hectare farm in Rwanda’s Northern Province and processed at Dukunde Kawa’s Mbilima washing station, it’s a rare single-producer lot from a region where coffees are more commonly blended at the washing station.
With more than four decades of experience between them, Andre and Anathal approach coffee farming with patience and precision, and it shows in the cup. Roasted for filter, the profile is gentle and layered. Apricot brings a mellow stone fruit sweetness, while oolong tea adds soft florals and a graceful structure. Smooth, comforting, and beautifully composed, it’s easy to see why this one keeps finding its way back onto our shelves.
