Brewing Stovetop
Stovetop method:
With almost 100 years of history, the stovetop brewer is a classic for a reason. Straightforward to use with delicious results, here’s our go to Stovetop method.
You will need:
- Stovetop coffee maker
- Water
- Coffee
- A stove!
Let’s get brewing!
Step One:
Grind your coffee fine to medium-fine, this will be a little coarser than espresso, similar to table salt.
Step Two:
Fill the basket with coffee to the top. Lightly tap to distribute the coffee.
Step Three:
Fill hot water to just below the valve. Hot water is best, as cold water will lower your initial extraction temperature and result in a loss of flavour.
Step Four:
Drop the basket into the base chamber and attach the top.
Step Five:
Place on your stove at a low-medium setting, and allow to brew. Water will rise through the coffee and into the top chamber. Be patient, as this will take time!
Step Six:
Your brew is complete when you hear sputtering. Take your brewer off the stove immediately at this point and rinse the base under cold water to stop extraction.
Step Seven:
Transfer your coffee to your favourite mug and enjoy.
