Brewing Aeropress

Aeropress method:

The Aeropress is as delicious as it is portable. This versatile coffee brewer can be found in backpacks, kitchens and even on competition stages across the world. While there are many ways you can enjoy the aeropress, this recipe is perfect for our single origin filter, or blends/espresso in a filter style.

You will need:

  • An Aeropress
  • A timer, filter paper and scales (optional)
  • Water just off the boil, approx 95°C
  • 16g medium-coarse ground coffee (Or 1 scoop as provided with the Aeropress)
  • A cup or jug to serve

Let’s get brewing!

Step One:

Place your filter paper into the Aeropress cap and attach to the chamber of the Aeropress.

Step Two:

Place the aeropress chamber on top of your cup, and pour hot water to rinse your paper and preheat your Aeropress.

Step Three:

Discard water and add your coffee. Tare the scale to zero.

Step Four:

Fill the chamber with 210g of water. (If you don’t have scales, this will be when the top of your coffee is halfway between the 3 and 4 on your aeropress chamber)

Step Five:

Remove from your scale and attach the plunger gently. You will lose a small amount of liquid; that’s okay!

Step Six:

Wait for 1 minute, then remove the plunger and stir gently 4 or 5 times.

Step Seven:

Reattach the plunger and plunge slowly.

Step Eight:

Stop when you hear a hiss. Pull the plunger up slightly to prevent drips.

Step Nine:

Enjoy!
