Introducing Our New Home Compostable Bags!

Introducing Our New Home Compostable Bags!

Redbrick is committed to making better coffee for all coffee drinkers.
Whilst most of this process is sourcing, roasting, brewing and serving up real good coffee, part of it has always been ensuring that sustainability remains at the forefront of our business practices.

Over the past 18 months, our team has been hard at work trying to find a new packaging solution that will help Redbrick drinkers feel even better about keeping their shelves stocked. And we’re excited to announce that we’ve finally found a fix that will not only keep the quality of your coffee intact, but is more environmentally friendly in the long term.

Our new bags feature a sleek box bottom design, ensuring they sit perfectly on your kitchen counter while keeping your favourite beans fresher for longer. They also keep the well-known and well-loved Redbrick look so you can always spot us easily on the shelves of your local.

But what we’re most excited about is that… these bags are 100% home compostable! That's right—you can compost them in your backyard. The switch to these home-compostable bags is a huge step for us in reducing our footprint and we couldn’t be prouder of this change.

Home How-To’s

Cut it up: Once you've enjoyed your last brew, cut the bag into small pieces. This helps speed up the composting process.

Mix it in: Add the pieces to your compost bin, making sure to mix it with other compostable materials like food scraps or garden waste.

Let it break down: Over time, the bag will break down into nutrient-rich compost that you can use in your garden to nourish your plants.

Compostable Greatness

If you don’t home-compost, these bags can be placed in your normal red rubbish bin. But, instead of going to their new home in landfill for infinity, they will break down by themselves over 180 days. They will leave no effect on the surrounding plants or Earth, as they are made from non-toxic materials. Great news!

This provides a more sustainable option for the disposal of the bag, compared to a traditional recyclable sleeve which, if incorrectly processed, would remain in landfill.
Additionally, the compostable packaging uses less plastic and petro chemicals, and is made from renewable source — making it a more cyclically sustainable process over the entire life-cycle of the bag.
