Tasting Notes of Red Apple and Chocolate
Cyarumbo is a coffee with a story. Nestled in the Huye District, Cyarumbo washing station is run by the Maraba Cooperative (Abahuzamugambi Ba Kawa Maraba) and holds a special place in Rwanda’s coffee history. Built in 2002, it was the first specialty-focused washing station established and owned by a cooperative after the devastating 1994 genocide. Cyarumbo became a model of innovation, focusing on quality and showcasing best practices that helped revive Rwanda’s coffee industry.
This washed lot is all about balance and clarity, highlighting the care and skill that Maraba’s producers bring to every step. The cherries for this lot were grown by 42 cooperative members, who tend small, high-altitude plots with mineral-rich soils - ideal conditions for growing something special. Handpicked at peak ripeness and processed at Cyarumbo, this coffee shines with natural sweetness and crisp acidity. Think juicy red apple meets smooth, silky chocolate - a vibrant yet cozy cup we could drink all day.
