This coffee was produced by the Yukro community in the emerging Jimma coffee growing region and processed at Telila Washing station. Coffee is grown under the shade of local forests at high altitudes with cool year round temperatures, leading to exceptional sugar development. Previously, coffee in the region was processed individually leading to inconsistent quality and poor prices received in the local market. However, in recent years the introduction of stations like Telila has allowed communities to drastically improve coffee quality and access the higher paying specialty market. Owned and operated by Mike Mamo, Telila prides itself on innovation and attention to detail, with a focus on highlighting lots by area, or kebele, rather than processing method. This additional transparency allows us access to incredible lots such as this, a reflection of the community that grew it. Handpicked cherries are pulped and fermented, before being washed and dried carefully over 10 days on raised bamboo beds. The result is a filter bursting with juicy stone fruit acidity, a clean cup profile and delightful sweetness.
