We’re very excited to share this special release filter with you! Since it first achieved recognition at the ‘Best of Panama’ competition in 2005, Gesha has made a tremendous mark on the specialty coffee industry thanks to its remarkably floral, fruity and tea-like flavours. Despite being difficult to grow and producing low yields, the variety has become synonymous with excellence and exclusivity. This 100% Gesha lot was produced by Sebastian Gomez in Colombia. Sebastian’s farm, La Divisa, is situated in the Quindio department, in the foothills of the Andes mountain range. With high elevations of 1,700-1,800masl, nutrient rich volcanic soils and cool temperatures year round, the conditions are ideal for Gesha cultivation. The ripest cherries have been carefully handpicked and fermented with fruit intact in an anaerobic environment. The removal of oxygen allows for a longer fermentation period of 40 hours, leading to more complex, concentrated flavours. The coffee is then dried in the sun until it reaches the ideal moisture content. Brew using your favourite filter method for a coffee that is bursting with rose aromatics and confectionary-like sweetness.
