Hadeso is one of ten washing stations privately-owned and operated by Testi Coffee, meaning “happiness” in the local language. During harvest, Hadeso receives coffee cherries from approximately 500 independent farmers who operate organic micro-plots within the region. With cool temperatures and staggering elevations between 1,800 – 2,050masl, coffee cherries ripen slowly, resulting in sweetness and complexity in the final cup. This Kurume and Wolisho landrace variety lot is a part of Testi’s quality improvement initiative, Premium Cherry Selection (PCS). This program ensures that only the best practices are used throughout growing, harvesting and processing. Each day, hand-picked coffee cherries are delivered to the wet mill and are meticulously sorted prior to processing to remove unripe, overripe, or damaged fruit. The coffee is then graded by weight and spread evenly on raised African beds to dry in the sun for 15-18 days. A whole lot of love and hard work has gone into processing this lot. We’ve roasted this coffee for espresso, highlighting its intense red fruit sweetness and rich chocolatey body.
